History
The Lone Star Star business was started in 1991 by Jamie B. Coulter, who launched his own career in the Pizza Hut Chain’s largest franchisee. In 1989, a company called Innovative Culinary Concepts opened a Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon prototype in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The course of the company
205 Lone Star restaurants were in service by March 1997, but the company’s stock performance was not good. The company’s share value dropped over the period partly due to the company’s failure to meet Wall Street’s rising quarterly income requirements, which forced it to arrange plans for the short and not long term. As the business seemed to do, the move to private ownership was one way of avoiding severe public scrutiny.
On August 18, 2009, the Lone Star Steakhouse chain of 222 restaurants, a major private equity corporation headquartered in Dallas, signed a contract to acquire Lone Star Funds. Lone Star Steakhouse was delisted from NASDAQ after it became private. Lone Star reduced its restaurant sites substantially over the coming years. Lone Star Steakhouse filed Chapter 11 protection for bankruptcy on February 13, 2017, after shutting most other restaurants.
