History
At first, Pep Boys, as it is known today, went by the name Pep Auto Supply Company. It was founded in Philadelphia in 1921 by Manny, Moe, Jack, and Moe Radavitz. The four friends contributed $200 each to open an auto parts store. The name Pep Boys came from a police officer working near the store. Later, the name would be changed to The Pep Boys.
The company went public in 1945 and Manny became its first president. In 1969, the company already had over 120 retail outlets. In the 70s, the company introduced self -service merchandising and computerized inventory management.
The 80s marked substantial and aggressive growth for the company, which had also expanded to over 700 store outlets and more than 3,00o service bays. Currently, The Pep Boys is a private company and a subsidiary of Icahn Enterprises L.P. as from 2016 after an acquisition deal worth 1.03 billion.

The worst place I’ve been is by far. Unprofessional absolutely. I was told to come in because when I visited them they did not have the piece – they still did not have the piece when I came back and the manager was incredibly rude.
First time today, I went to Pep Boys — I had bought and couldn’t match the failed size windshield wipers. Returned with old windshield wipers and car to Pep Boys.
