What is the history of Lunardi`s?
In 1953, Alfredo bought a neighborhood market in San Francisco called “Mother’s Market,” which was located at 23rd and Irving Streets. From that modest origin, Alfredo, with the aid of his sons Ralph and Paul, eventually grew to become 8 businesses in the Bay area. The Lunardi family’s tradition in the grocery business started in 1913 when Alfredo’s father, Giovanni Lunardi, emigrated from Italy to San Francisco.
