Les Schwab hours

What do Les Schwab do?

They are a tire and wheel retailer. Les Schwab is an American company that specializes in the sale of tires. Les Schwab was founded in 1952 by Leon “Les” Arthur Schwab with one store in Prineville, Oregon. It has since expanded to over 410 locations across the United States.  The first stores were mainly gas stations with one or two bays for tire sales and repairs.

The modern Les Schwab Tire Centers sell new tires from major brands as well as offer car repair services such as brakes, shocks, struts, exhausts, alignments, batteries, CV joints, shocks, tows, general repair work etc. They have their own warranty on parts and labor for customers who buy their tires there.

Tires are one of the most important parts of vehicles so if they were to fail or get damaged, it can lead to very serious consequences.  Tires provide safe passage for vehicles by balancing their weight and distributing forces throughout their structure.  If a tire fails due to age or wear, the vehicle becomes more difficult to control which could be dangerous, especially in slippery conditions or sharp turns.

Important Update on COVID-19

Les Schwab tweaked their shopping hours to permit employees a little extra time to clean as well as resupply goods on racks. Added to that, numerous Les Schwab locations have recently set up distinct shopping hours for members of the at-chance class.

The story behind Les Schwab

In Prineville in 1952, Les Schwab opened his one-pump gas station with two bays for repairing tires.  There was no electricity on the site, so not only did customers pump their own gasoline but they rotated and mounted their own tires.

The following year, he added a small shop for welding truck frames and hitches to pull trailers.  Over time, he began taking over tire sales at other service stations that were closing down – first in Prineville then throughout Oregon, Idaho, and into Washington.

He would buy the buildings where the other companies were located, move them onto his own property, and set up shop there. By 1962, his company had expanded enough to be incorporated as Les Schwab Tire Centers Inc., which at the time was a single retail location in Prineville.

In 2006, Les Schwab Tire Centers was one of the largest independent tire dealers in the United States, with over 400 locations spread throughout Alaska, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa (merged with Tires Plus at the end of 2009), Michigan (merged with Tires Plus in 2010), Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Since then the company has continued to grow nationally by purchasing other tire retailers including Big O Tires which operates primarily on the east coast region.  It also purchased competitor Western Tire in June 2011 .

Tires and wheels

Customers can choose from a wide selection of passenger and light truck tires, as well as commercial and agricultural tires. Les Schwab believes in providing customers with high-performance options, so they also offer products from some of the industry’s top tire brands such as BFGoodrich, Bridgestone, Firestone, General Tire, Goodyear, Hankook, Kelly Springfield, Michelin, Pirelli, and Uniroyal.

Offering wheels is another way that Les Schwab builds their brand. They carry industrial steel wheels including farm and industrial utility tractor wheels; I-5 industrial alloy wheels; industrial aluminum rims; industrial chrome rims; galvanized (rust-resistant) deck and step ladder wheel assemblies; I-5 multipurpose I-beam rims; and custom steel wheels such as severe service (vehicle hauling).

Alignment

Les Schwab Tires has partnered with Hunter Engineering to provide the best alignment services.  Hunter is an industry leader, supporting dealers like Les Schwab with factory-trained technicians and state-of-the-art equipment.

Wheel alignment is a very important part of tire inflation maintenance.  If you’re not getting your wheels aligned every time you have your tires rotated, it could be costing you money in the long run.

Brakes

This company offers a variety of brake services.  Your vehicle’s brakes are an important part of its overall performance, and having them serviced on a regular basis is recommended.

Les Schwab also offers lifetime front-end alignment checks with their standard tire rotation service.  By checking your front-end alignments regularly, you can ensure that your tires will perform as expected and that your car won’t suffer from uneven wear caused by misaligned wheels.

Offered in addition to the company’s standard tire rotations, Les Schwab provides nitrogen inflation for nitrogen-filled passenger car/light truck tires.  Nitrogen is preferred over compressed air because it reduces the amount of moisture in tires which could cause corrosion within the tire.  Less corrosion equals less chance of leaks and flats, and having your tires filled with nitrogen could even increase tire life!

Batteries

As part of the company’s automotive service center, Les Schwab provides battery checks and replacement services.  They also offer a free battery load test annually with the purchase of new batteries for cars and light trucks.

These services at Les Schwab are not limited to the physical location.  The company provides custom-fit tire and wheel packages with their online store, as well as free shipping on all tire and wheel purchases within the 48 contiguous United States. This includes free shipping on Les Schwab standard replacement tires!

Shocks and Struts

Les Schwab provides complete vehicle inspection and maintenance services, including shocks and struts.  These components work with your suspension to optimize the way that your tires feel on both wet and dry pavement.

This inspection includes free computerized wheel alignment measurements to help ensure that your alignment is optimized for both safety and performance.  Les Schwab offers lifetime free front-end alignment checks with the purchase of new tires to maximize the lifespan of your vehicle’s suspension system.

Just check out our alternative tire brands!  We have many options for you to choose from, including Yokohama, Fuzion, Hercules, Falken, Titan Truck Tires, General Tire, Maxxis Tires, Hankook Truck Tires, Pirelli Tires, Kumho Tires, and Uniroyal Commercial Tires.

Pre-trip safety check service

At Les Schwab, you can take care of all your automotive service needs in one place, including oil changes, which is very convenient.

Their pre-trip safety check service includes checking the air pressure in your car’s tires.  This helps ensure that you will not get stranded due to a flat tire while on the road.  Les Schwab also recommends having your fluids checked to make sure they are at proper levels.

You can come to the car center anytime for a free battery load test and inspection, and if you need new tires, we’ll install them for free. Their tire store also offers nitrogen inflation and front-end alignment checks.

Financing at Les Schwab

Flexible credits at the automotive car center have been used to help drivers obtain new tires, oil changes, and more.

Customers with good credit can qualify for interest rate discounts of up to 0.50%.  Les Schwab also provides 0% financing for 6 months on most tire purchases, which can make paying off high-dollar items easier.

Apply for a credit card to earn rewards or discounts on future Les Schwab automotive service center visits.  Les Schwab Visa cardholders receive 0% Introductory APR for 6 months, giving you time to pay off your purchases without interest fees.

The biggest advantage of bringing your car in for routine maintenance is that it helps keep everyone safer when they’re on the road.  Another benefit is that it will help extend the life of your car because preventive care can catch minor issues before they turn into major ones–and this lowers costs over time, too!

When your tires need to be filled with air, you can count on Les Schwab Tire Centers to have a reliable supply of compressed air.

You should also make sure that other fluids are at the right levels before hitting the road.  This is another service you can get done quickly when you visit their car center, which features free battery load testing and inspections for your safety!

Les Schwab provides quick access to front-end alignment checks, courtesy of their team of well-trained staff members.  Keeping up with regular maintenance ensures that your vehicle will run properly for years to come!

After all, it’s less time spent in the shop, and more time spent enjoying the open road where you want to be!
