DXL closing time
What time does DXL close? Usually, it closes at 07:00 PM.
DXL traces its roots to the 1970s when Design Inc. was formed. Calvin Margolis and Stanley Berger co-founded Design Inc. in 1976 after running Slak Shak for a while. Slak Shak sold hippie clothing like bell bottoms.
In the 1970s, the duo was approached by Levi’s and began to focus on jeans. These were sold in a store called You & You. In 1975, they sold the business to The Gap.
Design Inc. was able to expand its consumer base quickly courtesy of tourist shoppers. Reduced competition from brands such as The Gap served as an advantage to the store as it inherited customers.
In 1987, Design Inc, went public. This resulted in losses that were further exacerbated by the economic recession in the early 1990s. Margolis died a short while afterward and was replaced by Joel Reichman as CEO.
In 2002, Casual Male Big &Tall was acquired by Design Inc. which led to the renaming of the company to Casual Male. More designer labels such as Tommy Bahama, Robert Talbott, Rochester Big & Tall were also bought within the next two years. This was followed by the hiring of George Foreman as the company spokesman in a bid to boost sales.
In 2005 Casual Male changed its name to Casual Male XL and opened the Destination XL Group Inc. Store in Schaumburg, Illinois. In 2013, it changed its name to Destination XL Group Inc. which is now commonly known as DXL.
