What is the history of Drugmart?
In 1969, the first Drugmart store was opened in Medina, Ohio. The company was founded by brothers Phil and Chuck Schmidt, who had the idea to open a discount drug store. The chain quickly grew, and by 1973 there were 10 stores in Ohio. In 1976, Drugmart went public, and by 1980 there were 100 stores in 11 states.
