Chic-fil-A Hours

Chic-fil-A is a fast food restaurant chain in the United States. According to statistics, it is set to become the third-largest fast food restaurant in the United States after McDonald’s and Wendy’s. Here is a brief Chic-fil-A company profile.

What the company does

Chic-fil-A specializes in the sale of chicken, and more specifically, chicken sandwiches. They developed a cooking method for sandwich chicken in the 1900s, by using pressure cookers. This was after using the frying method associated with hamburgers for some time. Over the years, the company has taken up a very large share of the fast food restaurant market by specializing in sandwiches and other chicken dishes only.

Chick-fil-A also strongly believes in giving their customers healthy foods. For this reason, they strive to keep as many harmful ingredients out of the foods as possible. In the early 2000s, the company anticipated that their customers would begin to get concerns over trans-fats in fast food, so they undertook to eliminate them completely. Soon after that, Chic-fil-A became the first fast food chain to serve food that is completely free of trans-fats.

History

The company was started in 1946, by one S. Truett Cathy. At the time, it was named Dwarf House and was located in Hapeville, Georgia. Their main clients were employees of a nearby Ford Company. The Dwarf House brand still exists, with its biggest establishment still in Georgia.

In 1967, Chic-fil-A was created. They specifically focused on chicken fast foods, and slowly began to grow and become popular. Soon thereafter, they began opening more branches in other towns, especially suburban ones. At first, they simply acquired spaces inside malls and arcades to operate in the food courts. Later, they opened their first stand-alone restaurant in a building and began focusing on growing these types of outlets as opposed to being in malls and food courts.

The company can now be found in many areas, including universities. In fact, they have been involved in sponsoring university sports events since the year 1997. They also have multiple drive-through shops spread across the country. To grow their brand, they have created several slogans which are now popularly associated with Chick-fil-A.

Business directions

Chic-fil-A is present all across the United States, with over 2000 branches countrywide. Their headquarters are still located in Georgia, where the company started. They have also ventured into Canada, where they were met with failure on their first try. Their branches in South Africa were also closed in 2001 after reporting low sales.

Key Facts about the Company

The restaurant is owned privately by the Cathy family. The founder, S. Truett, was a deeply religious man, and this continues to influence many of the company’s policies. They close their branches on Sundays as a way of honoring the Christian way of life.

These beliefs have also been seen as the reason why the company has been stated on multiple occasions to be against organizations that support gay rights. This started after they were contracted to provide meals at a conference that was held by people against homosexuality. Since then, they have also made enormous contributions towards organizations that work towards the same cause. They released a statement insinuating that gay rights have no place in the society, something that led to a public backlash, and to them potentially being asked not to open businesses in some states.
