The history of Belle Tires company
In 1922 in Detroit, Michigan two businessmen Joseph Bellino Sr. and his brother-in-law, a lawyer named Joseph Campau, started a tire store called Bell Campau Co. The company was successful from the beginning and soon grew into a chain of stores. In 1947 Belle Tire Company was incorporated as a holding company to include the retail stores which were then known as Belle Tire Sales.
In 1965, Mr. Bellino turned over control of Belle Tire to his son Joseph Jr., who led the business until 1993 when he retired and handed the reigns over to his other son Robert E. “Bob”. Under Bob’s leadership, Belle Tire opened several new locations across Southeast Michigan and started various promotions such as Free Wheel Alignment (1987), Lifetime Balance (1989), Free Flat Repair (1993), and Wheel Balancing & Alignment Promo (1994).
In 1996, Joseph E. Bellino, the son of Joe Jr., was named President of Belle Tire. The company quickly expanded with stores opened in new markets including St. Clair Shores (1999), St. Johns (2000), Clinton Township (2002) and Sterling Heights Location #8 which has the only indoor showroom for customers to have a more comfortable shopping experience. Also, Bob’s daughter Mary Alice became Managing Partner early that year to support her father Bob who had spent almost all his time managing other locations until 2013 when he retired from business altogether thus passing away later on 2015 at age 81.
